Humpbacks by Rachel Badeau, image size – 6”x 5”
An intricately detailed hand colored etching of a mother whale and her calf surrounded by a hand embossed border of whales!

Rachel Badeau’s love of animals, nature, and her rural surroundings is reflected in the beautiful works she captures in her original etchings.

Rachel's work has progressed from scrimshaw jewelry 25 years ago to her 18 years of creating original hand colored, embossed etchings. Her current interests are in creating original hand carvings and engravings in fossilized ivory. She also carves in wax and clay to create the shapes that she uses in creating her original engraved works that are then cast in resin.

Each piece of Rachel's work is hand carved, engraved, and cast to pick up the fine line detail that is so characteristic of her art form. Each piece is then hand finished.
Rachel is, for the most part, self taught. Her husband joined her in business several years ago as the printmaker of her etchings. They proudly have 2 children, 3 dogs, 5 cats, 1 goat, parakeets - - - - and a parrot.

It is indeed a pleasure to offer to you the works of Rachel Badeau.
